Short answer: use four lines. League name, team name, the words FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPION, and the season year. That order reads correctly on a name plate and leaves no doubt about who won what, and when.
The four line format that works
- Line 1, the league name. This is the line that makes the trophy belong to your group rather than to a generic sport. "Gridiron Goofballs" beats "Fantasy Football League" every time.
- Line 2, the winning team name. Fantasy team names are half the fun of the hobby. Put it on the trophy.
- Line 3, the title. FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPION. This is the line search engines and future league members will read first.
- Line 4, the year. Use the season, not the calendar year, if your league runs across two: 2026-27.

Should the manager's name go on it?
It depends on whether the trophy stays or travels.

How much text actually fits?
On a standard gold name plate, plan on roughly 20 to 24 characters per line at a comfortable reading size. Longer lines still fit, they just engrave smaller. If you have a long league name, give it its own line rather than trying to cram it in with the year.
Common mistakes
- Abbreviating the league name. "GGFFL" means nothing in ten years. Spell it out.
- Leaving off the year. This is the single most common regret, especially on a trophy that gets passed along.
- Trusting autocorrect. We engrave exactly what you type, including typos. Read it twice before you check out.
- Waiting until the week of the banquet. Engraving takes 2 to 3 business days plus transit.
